Earlier this year at the Golden Globes, the biggest names in entertainment stunned in all black, everything for #TimesUp, a movement leading the conversation and taking action to end sexual assault, harassment and inequality in the workplace. This weekend at the Oscars, the award show carried similar momentum – calling out all male director nominees (except for Lady Bird’s Greta Gerwig), history making wins (congrats Jordan Peele!), AND… a jetski winning exit? But whether you enjoyed the show or hated that The Shape of Water won Best Picture, it’s always the red carpet that steals the show.
Since the red carpet has been all about breaking the mold, the same goes for prom season. Prom dresses and gowns come and go, that’s why it’s important to make it less about designer and more about fun – prom shoes and all!
For the less formal occasions like homecoming, short prom dresses and cocktail dresses are highly encouraged. If you’re up for feeling fearless, a striking one piece jumpsuit is just for you.
These are all the stunning red carpet inspired looks with the styles and the price tags to get them talking.
This stunning dusty perrywinkle dress on Kelly Marie Tran flattered her heavenly petite 5’2″ frame, all due to its bejewelled halter silhouette that highlighted her beautiful neckline and was finished with a chic updo.
Ditch the dress (sorta). Nothing beats the status quo quite like this statement making Louis Vuitton satin blazer worn by Emma Stone, proving you can still be elegant and feminine without the sparkly dress. Our selection of blazer dresses are super fit for prom season or go all out and suit out.
‘All the Stars’ of Black Panther dominated the red carpet, including Danai Gurira in this that fit her body like she was dipped in solid gold. She also added extra sparkle detail on her hair AND completed the look with a bold shimmery choker we want to recreate right away!
We’re talkin’ legends in this legendary color. Allison Janney, who took the win for Best Supporting Actress for her role as bird lady mom in I, Tonya also takes a win in our books for stunning red with exaggerated sleeves by Reem Acra. The most nominated actor in Oscar history, Meryl Streep looks ravishing in Dior and requires no further words necessary. Reinvent these classy lady looks in short bodycons for an after party getup and pair with other red HOT accessories. ?
Not gonna lie, the men were lookin’ pretty good too. Our guys Jared Leto and Donald Glover both donned velvet blazers by Gucci and since we looove our velvet, we’re taking notes! With high side slits and strappy front details, you’ll be a velvet visionary this prom season.
It was all about supporting each other at this past Golden Globes and showing support never looked and felt so Gucci (as seen on Margot Robbie ?). Bring your black dress to life, focusing on the cut and silhouette by going mermaid style, v-neck, one sleeve, or sleeveless to show off those sexy shoulders. Also, a little sequin embellishments never hurt anybody.
If there’s anyone that can look this cheerful in arguably fashion’s saddest color family, it’s Mandy Moore in bright perrywinkle blue. When it comes to formal dresses we beg to differ, because we’re obsessed with these blue inspired hues in cascading ombre chiffon and thin strappy dresses with the most adorable ruffle back details.
Sequins are still fiire. ? Just ask Danielle Brooks in this sparkly, form fitting sequin dress worn at this past 2018 SAG Awards. These long sleeve dresses with carefully beaded sequin sparkle in multi-color burgundy and champagne are enough of a reason to keep glistening all prom night.
It’s not quite Spring yet, but we’re currently sprung off this unforgettable embellished lace applique and sheer floral dress worn by Gina Rodriguez. When prom season comes around, make sure to bloom! These short prom dresses featuring a corset fit and lace up details will be extremely unique for prom (but we know that you can handle it!). The perfect little spaghetti straps and vibrant hues will make you pop!
When Reese Witherspoon stepped out in this sleeveless, form fitting forest green Zac Posen gown, all eyes were on her. You’ll be a gem all evening in these floor-length silhouettes in eye catching emerald and forest greens.
And the awards goes to… this major jumpsuit moment pulled off by actress Yara Shaidi, which SHUT. IT. DOWN. These are the kind of prom dress goals we wish we were cool enough to wear back at our senior prom. Replicate her strapless silhouette or try a strappy halter detail and look head to toe glam with pop of gold high heels to stand above the rest.
