We were a little obsessed with the Winter Olympics this year and even though it’s over, we are not ready to let it go! *cue Frozen soundtrack*
In honor of National Women’s Day, we want to take a moment to show our admiration for all of the amazing women that competed. They had us screaming “GIRL POWER!” as we watched in awe and wished we could be in South Korea cheering them on. With so many inspiring women at this year’s Winter Olympics, we wanted to highlight our faves who absolutely killed it and made us all so proud.
Hands down, Chloe Kim was this year’s outbreak star. The 17-year-old not only won her first gold medal but all of our hearts. *swoon* Her adorable relationship with her dad and her relatable AF tweets puts her at the top of our BFF goals list. She recently scored the Sports Illustrated cover and, to make her even more lovable than she already is, she shared the cover with her super adorable dog!

Wish I finished my breakfast sandwich but my stubborn self decided not to and now I’m getting hangry

We can’t make a list of women in the Olympics and not include Lindsay Vonn. The Winter Olympics living legend made her last Olympic appearance this year. It was definitely an emotional run for Lindsay; she wrote “<3 D.K.” on her helmet to honor her late grandfather who she lost last November. Even with all the extra emotional weight placed on this race, she still pulled through with a W and a bronze medal! We will definitely miss watching her race, thanks for the memories, Linds!

While most of us were cozied up in bed, the US women’s hockey team was crushing Canada to win the gold medal! The finger-biting, fist-clenching, super close game was definitely one for the books. The U.S. team pulled through after an impressive shootout and an almost too-good-to-be-true block that ultimately gave the US their win!

If Cool Runnings is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of bobsledding, you are not alone. But the US women’s bobsled team might change that with their team of badass, beautiful, and inspiring women! The diversity in backgrounds, race, and body shapes has formed a team of women who make us want to go out and buy some sleds and hit the slopes! (Just kidding, we would be terrible.) The US team took home a silver medal and we couldn’t be more proud!
Last but not least, we have to mention Jessie Diggins and Kikkan Randall who are the first women ever (like seriously, EVER) to bring home the gold for the US in cross-country skiing! As underdogs for the race, it was such an impressive performance by Diggins that she was selected to carry the American flag during the closing ceremony.
A huge shout out to ALL the women athletes who competed in the Winter Olympics this year. Only 4 more years ‘til we meet again!
Are you not entertained? Check out our movie watchlist for the best new movies (in our opinion) to watch now!
Happy International Women’s Day! Remember to raise each other up–not put each other down.
Our USA women’s team is just one example of what happens when we help each other succeed.
