When it comes to trends, Fall is my absolute fav season. Why? Well, mild temps make dressing for fall easy. You can choose a sweater and pair it with a mini skirt–this look would look crazy in the summer and the winter–or even pair a slip dress with a chunky cardigan! No need to worry about getting too hot or too cold. Goldilocks would approve. Needless to say, fashion week has given us all the vibes for fall and we’re totally in love. Here are a few of our faves that you definitely need to try this season!
Plaid, check, tartan–there a lot of names for this fall fav. We got a little preview of these check prints this summer, but we’re not stopping there. Fall is where this trend really shines. Think 90’s grunge and Rachel Green for styling pointers. Pair with your fav graphic tees and ankle booties for the essential fall look.
Don’t knit it and quit it. The cold weather staple is back and here to stay. Go for chunky knit sweaters in oversized or cropped styles. We love a good turtleneck moment with an edgy leather skirt look. You can even go full-on cozy with an oversized sweater dress and comfy leggings with booties–can we just live in this outfit?
Edge things up with fall’s fav party look–studded details, hardware all-over, and buckles galore. It’s the perf look for your inner dominatrix. Soften an edgy skirt with a cropped sweater, or throw on a moto style jacket over a more feminine outfit for some added spice.
Nothing quite like a good power suit to breathe new life into your wardrobe. A matching set is the way to go–and don’t forget to go bold with an eye-catching color like millennial pink or even a bold red or patterned look. What’s great about suiting pieces is that you can mix and match with total ease, and with the switch of the top underneath (or lack thereof), you can get a completely different vibe.
Beat the breeze with corduroy pieces that give us major 70s vibes (with a twist). We’re loving muted tones and bright ones alike. Kill two fall trends with one stone in this bold red corduroy jacket. It’s the pop of color every fall wardrobe capsule needs.
Call it pleather, call it faux leather, call it vegan leather–trending this fall is this edgy fav. If you live in all black clothing, tossing in a patent leather can really mix things up for ya. You’ll love the contrast of the different textures when they come out to play. Play into another fall runway trend along with it — some metallics really turn things up for any ‘fit. Metallic leather shorts are having a moment right now and you need to try it.
Get on that utilitarian game with a cargo jacket like this one to keep the look cool and cas’. This look is so easy to throw on with your fav casual outfit, for school, work, or on your days off. There’s another fall trend within a trend here–utilitarian looks are dominating the streets of fashion week this year in chic one-piece boilersuits, the utilitarian version of the beloved jumpsuit. Extra zippers and pockets go a long way with utility skirts, pants, and even jackets. Ever rock cargo pants back in the day? Well, those are back too, and yes they have pockets.
One bold fall trend we’ve been seeing throughout fashion week for fall is animal print. Practically animal print everything. Try a chic snake print or even cheetah or leopard. We’re loving these patterns in dresses, accessories, outerwear–really, everything–because we can finally pay an homage to our inner spirit animals. Meowww.
When shopping for your new fall capsule wardrobe, don’t forget that winter is around the corner. Stock up on layers of tees, cardigans, sweaters, and of course, COATS. Who doesn’t love a good staple outerwear piece that can really chic things up? You can throw on a dressy coat with any casual outfit and sneakers, and the look is made. Take this fav with you on your next dressy occasion, too; it wears perfectly with a formal dress.
Get over those end-of-summer woes because fall isn’t so bad at all. We love playing around with trends, layering (of course), and sippin’ on our PSL’s–don’t judge us.
