In the season of spring flings, festival fever and summer love, it’s about time we all find our better half. ?

Whether you call them matching sets, co-ords, or two-piece sets – these are the ‘fits being seen together all over the ‘gram. But seriously, when did matching our clothes become considered ‘cool’ again? Since it’s safe to say that our toddler dress days don’t count, here’s a little fashion recap.

We like to think it became popularized by pop queen Katy Perry, because our awk teenage years will always be remembered at the height of her career belting out power anthems (that we loved to hate) like “Firework” and “California Girls.” With eccentric designer Jeremy Scott behind several of the costume designs during her tour (who’s also responsible for dressing Miley during her wrecking ball phase) and viral Superbowl performance, she sang to millions in memorable outfits – prism prints, beach ball mini skirts, and a foil hershey kisses bra. Yup.
