In the season of spring flings, festival fever and summer love, it’s about time we all find our better half. ?
Whether you call them matching sets, co-ords, or two-piece sets – these are the ‘fits being seen together all over the ‘gram. But seriously, when did matching our clothes become considered ‘cool’ again? Since it’s safe to say that our toddler dress days don’t count, here’s a little fashion recap.
We like to think it became popularized by pop queen Katy Perry, because our awk teenage years will always be remembered at the height of her career belting out power anthems (that we loved to hate) like “Firework” and “California Girls.” With eccentric designer Jeremy Scott behind several of the costume designs during her tour (who’s also responsible for dressing Miley during her wrecking ball phase) and viral Superbowl performance, she sang to millions in memorable outfits – prism prints, beach ball mini skirts, and a foil hershey kisses bra. Yup.
Besides the outfits being outrageously colorful, wildy printed, and tons of fun – they matched! What a concept, right?
Quickly following and coming together as music and fashion always does, festival style took ideas on these flirty, breezy sets for their functionality (because we all know going to the bathroom in a romper can be annoying AF), toned them down with a little festival flare, and became a staple for spring and summer outfits!
Seen in unique evening prints on Solange Knowles and as a street style fave on top bloggers like Aimee Song at Coachella, these easy to wear matching sets in floral prints, crochet lace, stripes, and basics – we’re all for it. And with different silhouettes including form fitting dresses, flowy shorts, long skirts, chic off shoulder tops, long sleeve crop tops – it’s a serious outfit no brainer.
Here are stylish festival outfits and cute summer outfit ideas you should be wearing at the festival. Just don’t forget to fest-accessorize!
Let your floral, gingham, AND every print obsession flourish in cute sets with flared sleeves, ruffle bottoms, and more.
Summer style would be nothing without a little crochet every now and then. In the desert heat, you will never feel so free and effortless swaying to the music in this breathable fabric. Pair with sandals for a laid back boho vibes.
Already good on your own, but better together. Keep it simple and form fitting or pay attention to the details – lace up ties, short shorts & all.
Stripes are classic and never really go out of style. Pair with another closet staple like a cropped and oversized denim jacket to keep it light and breezy during the desert days.
